This segment from the November 5, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Allegra Nevils Yancey’s preview of two theatrical shows on historic Louisiana women, “The Originals” and “The Visionaries,” put on by Alter Ego Productions. “The Originals” focuses on former slave and plantation owner Marie-Therese Coincoin, primitive painter Clementine Hunter, and singer Nellie Lutcher, while “The Visionaries” highlights author Kate Chopin, artist Clyde Connell, and forester Caroline Dormon. Yancey talks to producer Leslie Berman, playwright Carolyn Woosley and actresses Molly Markwick (“Caroline Dormon”), Donna Rigdon Jones (“Kate Chopin”) and Carol Anne Gayle (“Clyde Connell”) about these Louisiana women and the plays.
