This segment from the November 5, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Allegra Nevils Yancey’s preview of two theatrical shows on historic Louisiana women, “The Originals” and “The Visionaries,” put on by Alter Ego Productions. “The Originals” focuses on former slave and plantation owner Marie-Therese Coincoin, primitive painter Clementine Hunter, and singer Nellie Lutcher, while “The Visionaries” highlights author Kate Chopin, artist Clyde Connell, and forester Caroline Dormon.
