This segment from the February 18, 2011, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Jeremy Alford’s report on the 8600 Danforth Anchors left behind on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico following the BP Oil Spill clean-up efforts. Alford interviews Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser on his concerns over the anchors and BP’s lack of urgency in retrieving them. He also talks to Secretary Robert Barham of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) on the discovery of new oil at Elmer’s Island near Grand Isle. Alford also interviews Stuart Smith, an attorney for the Louisiana Environmental Action Network, on their concerns over the accuracy of seafood testing. Lastly, he talks to Randy Pausina, an LDWF biologist, about the negative seafood tests. This report also touches on the appearance of oil at Bay Jimmy, Red Fish Bay, and Pass A Loutre.
