These stories include: Eddie Ashworth of the Louisiana Budget Project, Reverend Chris Andrews, oncology nurse Colleen Lemoine, and David Tatman of the Louisiana Association of Wholesalers testifying before the House Ways and Means Committee on State Representative Harold Ritchie’s bill increasing the tax on cigarettes and tobacco products by 70 cents; State Representative Damon Baldone questioning Rina Thomas of the Governor’s Office on why the Jindal Administration does not favor a bill supported by 70% of the people; State Representatives Austin Badon and Jeff Arnold testifying before the House Transportation Committee on Badon’s bill prohibiting the use of handheld cell phones while driving; Livingston Parish resident Lisa Allen testifying before the House Criminal Justice Committee on State Representative Bodi White’s bill authorizing the courts to decide whether to suspend drivers’ licenses for those arrested on charges of vehicular homicide; and Don Briggs of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association testifying on a bill related to the way the state addresses contaminated or polluted drilling sites.
