This segment from the July 8, 2011, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Jeremy Alford’s report on the state of Louisiana seafood restaurants more than a year after the BP Oil Spill. Alford interviews Tommy Cvitanovich of Drago’s Seafood Restaurant in Metairie about their famous char-broiled oysters, his commitment to using Louisiana seafood, and dealing with the public perception that Gulf seafood is not safe. He also talks to Steve Pettus of Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House in New Orleans about their difficulty in dealing with the Gulf Coast Claims Facility to recover losses from the oil spill and the effect of tourism on the restaurant industry.
