Description
This segment from the February 17, 2012, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Sue Lincoln’s report on the preschool accountability proposals in Governor Bobby Jindal’s education reform plan. This report includes Governor Jindal outlining his proposals at a meeting of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), including the new accountability standards for preschools, a kindergarten readiness assessment, and a change in the funding mechanism for preschools around the state. Lincoln also interviews Dr. Billy Stokes, the director of the Cecil J. Picard Center for Childhood Development and Lifelong Learning, who discusses the importance of preschool education and the most recent results of their study into the effectiveness of the state’s LA4 program.
