This segment from the March 23, 2012, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Sue Lincoln’s report on the readiness of the state’s private and parochial schools to accept students using school vouchers. Lincoln reports that the House of Representatives has already approved the bill expanding the school voucher program at the 2012 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature. She interviews Dr. Tom Middleton, the headmaster at River Oaks School in Monroe, and Phil Jackson, the principal at Franklin Academy in Winnsboro, who discuss their reasons for not accepting students using school vouchers. Lincoln also interviews Danny Loar, the executive director of the Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops, who discusses the willingness of the Catholic schools to accept voucher students.
