This segment from the August 10, 2012, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s report on the second class of “Escadrille Louisiane,” a partnership between the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL), the French government, and Centenary College in Shreveport. Whinham reports that seven recent college graduates from Louisiana will travel to France to teach English to French students and attend classes at a local university. Upon their return to Louisiana, they will work as teachers in French immersion programs. Whinham interviews: Dr. David Rowe, the president of Centenary College; Valerie Lemur, the Dean of Education at a French university; Dr. Dominic Salinas, the Director of the Department of Education at Centenary; program participants Remi Pastorek, Henri Lordians, and Elizabeth Lyles; and program alumni Russell Berris, Joan Regard, and Virginia-Kate Mather.
