This segment from the September 21, 2012, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s in-studio interview with State Representative Katrina Jackson and State Representative Jerome Richard. They discuss: the Jindal Administration’s recent cuts to the state budget without legislative approval; Richard’s letter to his colleagues urging them to call a special session to deal with the state budget; and Jackson’s concerns over the Jindal Administration’s privatization of the state employees’ health insurance plan without legislative approval. Prior to their discussion, Sanford presents an interview clip with Governor Bobby Jindal saying that he does not believe there is a need to call the Legislature into Special Session.
