This segment from the January 2, 2015, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s visit to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the Northwest Louisiana History Museum in Natchitoches. Whinham talks to curator Shawn Ryder about the artifacts available at the museum, including the first uniform of the New Orleans Saints’ cheerleaders, high school boxing memorabilia, the Louisiana State Golf Association trophy, a display on sportsman Grits Gresham, and paintings by Clementine Hunter. Whinham also speaks to Dr. Susan Dollar, a history professor at Northwestern State University, about the importance of the collections at the Northwest Louisiana History Museum. This story includes footage from the opening of the Hall of Fame in 2013, including hall of fame inductee Shaquille O’Neal and Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne.
