This segment from the January 9, 2015, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s story on the 25th anniversary of the film Steel Magnolias, which was shot in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Whinham interviews Natchitoches residents Susan Dollar, Dan Dyess, and Sandra Dickens, who share their memories of the filming of the movie. This story also includes a clip of an interview with the writer of the film, Natchitoches native Robert Harling, who discusses the inspiration for the story.
