Description
This segment from the April 3, 2015, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s report on the work of CASA volunteers and the need for more of them around the state. Sanford reports that CASA volunteers are Court Appointed Special Advocates, who help to place children in the foster care system in safe and permanent homes. She interviews: Ronnie Gilliam and Renee Gilliam, parents who have adopted seven children with the help of CASA volunteers; Gloria Wall, CASA volunteer; Rita Powell, CASA coordinator; Wade Bond and Natalie North of the Rapides Children’s Advocacy Center; and Judge Patricia Koch of the 9th Judicial District Court in Rapides Parish.
