This segment from the May 1, 2015, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s report on the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. She interviews Anthony Tran, a Vietnamese refugee who now lives in New Orleans East. He discusses: the fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975; living under the Communist regime for four years; fleeing Vietnam on a boat with ten other people in 1979; living in a refugee camp; moving to New Orleans; the similarities between Vietnam and New Orleans; the strong bonds of the Vietnamese community in New Orleans; and the importance of the Mary Queen of Vietnam Church to the community.
