This segment from the August 28, 2015, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s interview with retired Lieutenant General Russel Honore in New Orleans in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. General Honore served as the commander of Joint Task Force Katrina, the unit responsible for coordinating military relief efforts following the storm. He shares his memories from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and his thoughts on the new flood protection in the city. This report also includes an interview with Robert Turner of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority East on the new levee system.
