Description
This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from August 19, 2016, features a special report on the historic flooding in south Louisiana. It includes: producer Kevin Gautreaux’s recap of the flooding event, including highlights from a press conference with Governor John Bel Edwards and FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate; First Lady Donna Edwards visiting evacuees at a Baton Rouge shelter; LPB receiving an 18-wheeler full of supplies from the Helping His Hands Disaster Response Team from Vincennes, Indiana; Paul Boger & Charlie Whinham’s report on the work of the American Red Cross in distributing supplies to flood victims; Kelly Spires’ interviews with Louisiana State Climatologist Barry Keim and LSU Hydrologist Richard Keim on the science behind the flooding; and Charlie Whinham’s in-studio interview with Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser on his work in coordinating the volunteer effort for the recovery.
