Description
This segment from the September 30, 2016, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s profile of LSU Interim Football Coach Ed Orgeron. Orgeron, a native of Larose, Louisiana, was a member of the 1977 state champion football team at South Lafourche High School along with former New Orleans Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert. This segment includes footage from a press conference with LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva introducing Orgeron as the interim head coach. Whinham also travels to Larose and interviews Orgeron’s long-time friends Windell Curole, Tommy Gisclair, Scott Bouzigard, and Kevin Gros. They discuss: the 1977 state champion football team; their pride in Coach Orgeron; and their expectations for his first game as LSU’s head coach. Whinham, Curole, Gisclair, and Bouzigard also recreate the game-winning play from the 1977 state championship game.
