Description
This segment from the October 28, 2016, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Charlie Whinham’s report on the Old Glory Relay, a cross-country relay run of the American flag from the state of Washington to Florida, sponsored by Chicago-based veterans’ group Team Red, White, and Blue. Whinham follows the Alexandria, Louisiana, chapter of Team Red, White, and Blue as they run with the flag from Port Barre in St. Landry Parish to the State Capitol in Baton Rouge. Their journey also includes a kayak trip across the Mississippi River. He interviews participants Colin Lebeau, Johnny Kiesewetter, Trevor Lloyd, John Royall, Zack Armstrong, and Tony Rawson. They discuss Team Red, White, and Blue’s mission of connecting veterans to their communities through physical activity and their personal experiences of participating in the Old Glory Relay. This segment is a part of the Veterans Coming Home Initiative.
