This segment from the June 23, 2017, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Andre Moreau reporting on the discovery of a 34 foot long canoe on the banks of the Red River near Shreveport. Moreau reports that the canoe is believed to be the largest intact Native American canoe ever found in North America. It includes an interview with Jeff Girard of Northwestern University, who discusses his view that the canoe dates back about 1,000 years to the prehistoric Caddo people.
