This segment from the March 30, 2018, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Andre Moreau’s visit to LSU’s Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices (CAMD) in Baton Rouge to see researchers using a super x-ray machine to test artifacts from Poverty Point, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in West Carroll Parish, Louisiana. Moreau interviews Dr. Josef Hormes, a CAMD research professor, who discusses: his interest in this unique project; the questions they are trying to answer about the artifacts; the process for using the super x-ray machine; and his hope to learn more about the people of the Poverty Point culture.
