He discusses: their difficulty with teacher retention; student learning loss during the pandemic; and the need to improve students’ reading scores. Moreau then conducts an in-studio interview with Dr. Steven Procopio, the president of the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR). He discusses Louisiana’s low literacy rates for K-3 students and State Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley’s proposal to require K-3 students reading below their grade level to attend 30 hours of literacy instruction during the summer.
