Description
This segment from the January 27, 2023, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Andre Moreau and Kara St. Cyr reporting on the death of 19-year-old LSU student Madison Brooks, who was hit by a car after she was allegedly raped by men she met at a Tigerland bar. Moreau and St. Cyr report that LSU president William Tate’s letter to campus following Brook’s death focused on the problem of underage drinking and not sexual assault. Moreau interviews Morgan Lamandre, the executive director of Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response (STAR), who discusses her concerns about Tate’s response and the need to focus on preventing sexual assaults. LPB intern Layne Miller then reports on the reaction of LSU students to the death of Brooks and Tate’s response.
