This segment from the January 12, 2024, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Kara St. Cyr’s report on the Lincoln Theater Restoration Project in Baton Rouge sponsored by the Louisiana Black History Hall of Fame. St. Cyr reports that the Lincoln Theater served as an important entertainment hub for Black artists during segregation and played an important role in the Civil Rights Movement. She interviews Dr. Thomas Durant, a board member for the Louisiana Black History Hall of Fame, who discusses his organization’s plans to restore the building and turn it back into a community center.
