An oral history interview conducted on August 8, 2017, at the Vietnam Veterans of America Conference in New Orleans, with Dennis Andras of Metairie, Louisiana. Andras served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He discusses: his training; his role as a reconnaissance sergeant calling in artillery for the infantry; the brotherhood of the soldiers; his toughest memories; being spit on by protestors at the airport when he returned home; the politicians losing the war; his participation in the last major battle of the war; opening up fire support base Veghel; the subsequent attack on the base; and the heroes that never came home.
