An oral history interview from September 1, 2017, with Danny Allen of Farmerville, Louisiana. Allen served as a scout for the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He discusses: being deployed with the India Company of the 3rd Batallion of the 26th Marine Regiment in Vietnam; guarding a bridge on the Hai Van Pass with two Viet Cong defectors; surviving Typhoon Bess while out in the elements; being shot at by snipers; waking up to an explosion at the bridge; his foot infection; and meeting up with two soldiers from north Louisiana.
