An oral history interview conducted on August 30, 2017, with Bobby Lee of Brusly, Louisiana. Lee, a native of Newellton, Louisiana, served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He discusses: his training; his assignment to a combat infantry unit; his role as a squad leader during search-and-destroy missions in the jungle; a typical day on patrol; the constant worry about booby traps; his Battalion Commander, Norman Schwarzkopf; the soldiers watching out for each other; being ambushed while on patrol; and his advice for young people interested in joining the military.
