An oral history interview conducted on August 11, 2017, with Lyn Hargrave of Lafayette, Louisiana. Hargrave, a native of Kaplan, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He discusses: his decision to volunteer after being drafted; his training; his deployment to the northern portion of South Vietnam; his role as a platoon leader on search-and-destroy missions; being wounded during the battle at Fire Base Henderson; his experience of the Battle of Fire Support Base Ripcord; the difficult transition to civilian life; his medals; the changing attitudes towards Vietnam veterans; his advice for young people interested in joining the military; and his memories of returning home from the war.
