Description
An oral history interview conducted on September 11, 2007, with George C. Henry, a B-24 flight engineer for the 716th Squadron of the 449th Bomb Group of the Army Air Corps during World War II. Henry flew in 50 combat missions over Europe in 1944. He discusses: his training; flying combat missions over Italy during the Battle of Anzio, a ball-bearing plant in Austria, the Ploesti oil fields in Romania, and an aircraft factory in Germany; his return home from the war; and the research he has conducted as the historian for the 449th Bomb Group.
