An oral history interview conducted on August 23, 2007, with retired Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert M. Slaughter, Sr., a glider pilot with the 436th Troop Carrier Group of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He discusses: hearing about the Pearl Harbor attack while stationed at Turner Field in Albany, Georgia; his transfer to the glider training program; the purpose of military gliders; and his missions in Germany and Holland.
