An oral history interview conducted on September 12, 2007, with William L. Whitworth, a B-24 tail gunner in the 456th Bombardment Group of the 15th Air Force during World War II. He discusses: his deployment to Europe; flying in his first mission; bailing out of his plane and landing in Poland; being taken as a German prisoner of war; his interrogation by the Germans; his imprisonment at Stalag Luft IV in Poland; his transfer to Stalag Luft I in Barth, Germany; and his liberation from the camp.
