Description
This segment from the 2002 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Breanna Spivy of Bossier City, a sixth grade student at Benton Middle School. When she was two months old, Spivy was seriously burned, losing both of her feet and suffering severe damage to her left hand. When her mother realized she could not provide the care she needed, she was adopted by her foster parents. After twenty surgeries, Spivy uses prosthetics to participate in sports, school, and church activities. She has won numerous honors in the Games Uniting Mind and Body (GUMBO) and was named Bantam Athlete of the Year in 1998. Hosts: Beth Courtney and Robert Rainer
