Description
This segment from the 2010 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Antonio Rivera, a junior at Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport. Rivera has overcome several obstacles in his life, including the deaths of his parents and grandmother and homelessness. Through Metro Ministries, Rivera was sent from his birthplace of New York to live in Louisiana with the Harrelsons, who now have full custody. Rivera maintains a 4.8 grade point average and is a member of the National Honor Society and the wrestling team. He also volunteers with several causes, including the Special Olympics.
