This segment from the 2014 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Andrews Matthews, a junior at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. Matthews was born three and a half months premature, which forced him to attend physical, occupational, and speech therapy for the first ten years of his life. He also suffers from dyslexia and a learning disability. Despite these challenges, Matthews is set to graduate on time and has volunteered more than 400 hours as a part of the EMS Explorer program. He is also certified to perform CPR and as a Louisiana State First Responder.
