Description
This segment from the 2016 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Dylan Alvarez, a senior at Sulphur High School. At age eight, Alvarez lost his mother, brother, and sister in a ten-month span. While living with his father and step-mother, he was an abused and neglected child, who was virtually a prisoner in his own home. After moving in with his aunt and uncle four years ago, he has thrived at school and works as a teen reporter for KPLC-TV in Lake Charles. His profile includes interviews with: Pam Dixon, a teacher at Lake Charles Boston Academy; Carolyn Bowman, his aunt; and Mark Rasberry, his uncle. Hosts: Tom Waguespack and Beth Courtney
