This segment from the 2018 Young Heroes Award Ceremony features a profile of honoree Garrineccia Singleton, a senior at Scotlandville Magnet High School in Baton Rouge. Singleton suffered an abusive childhood and was later diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and severe clinical depression. Despite these challenges, she will graduate as her class salutatorian and has received a $200,000 scholarship to attend Rhodes College.
