Description

Oral history with civil rights activist, police chief, alderman, and mayor of Tallulah Zelma Charles Wyche (24 January 1918-24 September 1999). In this interview, Wyche discusses his life in civil rights activism, his time as police chief and mayor of Tallulah, the effect his service in France during the Second World War had on his outlook on life, and his fight for voting rights once he returned home. He also provides his thoughts on some of the civil rights issues that are still present in Louisiana. The end of the video features some photos of Wyche.
