Description

The Mardi Gras Night Pageant of Proteus in 1941, produced for Stephen Foster Memorial Foundation of The University of Pittsburgh by Harfilms,Inc. The film documents the 1941 Krewe of Proteus, which selected "Immortal Songs of Stephen Foster" for its 1941 Pageant and Carnival Ball. Scenes include: King of Proteus greets his Queen at the Boston Club on Canal Street; individual floats in the 1941 parade; the Krewe of Proteus leaving their floats at Municipal Auditorium for the Carnival Ball; and The King and Queen of Proteus. The film was produced by Harcol Educational Films, New Orleans.
