This episode of the series “Algebra for Teachers” from 1990 features Dr. Carolyn Talton leading an in-service training for teachers as a part of the Satellite Educational Research Consortium (SERC). She leads a discussion on math anxiety with two sets of guests: Phoebe Gasparez, a counselor at Baton Rouge Magnet High School; Bonnie Alford, a counselor at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge; Lorinda DeVries, a ninth-grade algebra teacher at Baton Rouge Magnet High School; and Dr. Dan Dupree, a math consultant for the series and retired dean of the College of Pure and Applied Sciences at Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe. They discuss strategies for helping to alleviate their students’ math anxiety.
