This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from June 16, 1995, features Robert Collins, Jeff Duhe, and Arcie Chapa reporting on the twelfth week of the 1995 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature. Duhe first reports on the action at the session, including: an interview with State Senator Randy Ewing on the restructuring of debt payments by the Bond Commission to allocate more funding for Medicaid; Governor Edwin Edwards commenting on Ewing’s solution; an interview with State Representative Raymond Lalonde on his gambling local option bill; an interview with State Representative James David Cain on his bill criminalizing underage drinking; an interview with State Senator Mike Foster on the potential veto of his concealed carry bill; an interview with State Representative Vic Stelly on his bill allowing for traffic tickets for people not wearing seatbelts; an interview with State Representative Jimmy Dimos on his welfare reform bills; an interview with Dan Juneau of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) on the business bills passed at the session; an interview with Victor Bussie of the Louisiana AFL-CIO on the labor bills passed at the session; an interview with Russell Henderson of the ACLU on the civil liberties bills passed at the session; an interview with Sandy Krasnoff of Victims and Citizens Against Crime on the victims’ rights bills passed at the session; and State Representative Sherman Copelin discussing a term limits bill.
