An oral history interview conducted on August 16, 2017, with Rick Bogren of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Bogren, a native of Marseilles, Illinois, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He discusses: being drafted; volunteering for the Chaplain Corps; being stationed next to Long Benh Post; his work with a local orphanage and a local hospital; the rocket attacks at the base; the high number of non-combat GIs; and his advice for young people interested in joining the military.
