Description
An oral history interview conducted on September 6, 2017, with Albert Perez of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Perez served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1997, including two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He discusses: his first deployment to U-Tapao, Thailand; flying combat missions over both South Vietnam and North Vietnam; his friend, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Hymel, who survived a missile strike to his airplane in Vietnam and later died in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; his worst memory of seeing planes being shot down over North Vietnam; his medals; and his advice for young people interested in joining the military.
