An oral history interview conducted on September 12, 2017, with Leroy Caubarreaux of Marksville, Louisiana. Caubarreaux served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He discusses: his role as a medevac pilot supporting the 1st Calvary Division; being shot down over Cambodia; the advisor who received the National Medal of Honor for saving him and the other wounded crew members from the burning helicopter and getting them behind friendly lines; flying humanitarian missions for wounded civilians; the importance of the medevac system; his medals; the changing attitudes towards Vietnam veterans; and his advice for young people interested in joining the military.
